This week we had to perform this song in front of the class. We were all ready to do this and all had it very well covered. The singers were struggling with the harmonies last week but nailed it this week. The guitarist and drummer joined in with the harmonies to make it a lot more easier.
The drummer knows the beat very well so he was fine with singing at the same time. The guitarist and me were fine with our parts because they are very simple and we had no problem with it. Our other guitarist has to do a big scale solo to start with and he said he is cool with it, he just improvises pentatonic scales at a really high pitch, he also has to cover the brass solo with another guitar solo but there was no problem with that either.
The singer was so set on having a dance routine with this song. She came up with so many ideas but in the end just made it simple. During the chorus everyone has to walk forward 4 steps then walk back 4 steps then walk right 2 steps and left 2 steps and the repeat. It's very simple but when everyone does it, it looks really cool. Everyone got the hang of the moves quickly, even the drummer was moving his torso front, back, right, left! The only person that struggled a little bit was the other (male) singer. He said he is terrible at multi tasking but he will practice it throughout the week.
FEEDBACK:
Dot told us that we were very sharp, we had this genre and song very well covered. She said the volume of each instrument was very well put together and that everyone done really well. She said that I did really well with the bass part too.
For next week she wants us all to think of a better dance routine to go with the song because our one at the moment isn't really that Disco if you know what I mean. Dot said we should have more dancing rather than just walking because it is a disco song and she feels there needs to be dancing throughout the whole song. So this time it is not the instruments it is the dancing.
